After Backlash, Apple Redesigns Unappetizing Bagel Emoji

Puny and dry, Apple’s former design wasn’t making anyone crave a bagel. Fortunately, the company has listened to people’s complaints and rectified the situation.

There’s a huge difference between a New York City bagel with chewy insides and one of those cardboard-like knock-offs you can find in your grocer’s freezer.

Apple’s upcoming bagel emoji—released earlier this month as part of iOS 12.1 beta 2—looked a lot like the former. Puny and dry, Apple’s design wasn’t making anyone crave a bagel.

People noticed, and they were not happy.

“I’m legit about to riot over this Apple bagel emoji,” one person wrote on Twitter. “It’s like they’ve never seen a real bagel on the west coast…”

Another person threatened to organize a march over the emoji.

“It looks like something you get from a cardboard box in the freezer section at Walmart,” they wrote. “This insult will not stand.”
