Earlier last year, Sony rolled out its Android TV-based Bravia OLED 4K televisions to U.S. consumers with support for Google Assistant. The Japanese consumer electronics company is expanding the availability of Google’s personal assistant to its suite of Android TVs.
Sony announced today that Google Assistant is now beginning to hit the compatible models of Sony’s 4K Android TVs in the U.K. such as the AF8, XF90, XF85, XF80, and XF75 series. The rollout is expected to complete this month, with Sony planning to extend the release to France, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands later this year.
With Google Assistant now pre-installed in select Sony Android TVs, consumers will be able to access movies, music, and other media content and take control of their smart home devices by giving voice commands to Sony’s voice-operated remote. Watching TV shows and movies can be done either on Google Play or other services.
