Pokémon Go World Tourism Day event guide: field research rewards and Shinies

If you’re missing a Zangoose or Seviper from your Pokédex, there is hope for you

The Pokémon Go World Tourism Day event has begun, which means not only are new Shiny Pokémon popping up for lucky players, but there are specialized Field Research Tasks to complete until Oct. 1 at 4 p.m. ET.

This event features Shiny Seviper, Zangoose, and Mime Jr. Note that these Pokémon are still regional. Seviper is available in North America, South America, and Africa, while Zangoose is available in Europe, Asia, and Australia. Mime Jr. only hatches from eggs and is available in Europe.

However, it seems that Seviper and Zangoose both are able to be obtained through some of this event’s Field Research Tasks. Check out the list of tasks below.

POKÉMON GO WORLD TOURISM DAY 2019 FIELD RESEARCH TASKS

    TaskReward
World Tourism Day: Trade Pokémon caught 10,000 KM apartZangoose encounter (North America, South America, and Africa) OR Seviper encounter (Europe, Asia, and Australia)
World Tourism Day: Make a new friendNosepass encounter
World Tourism Day: Send 25 gifts to friendsLapras encounter

That being said, it’s going to take a lot of trading and luck to try to get a Shiny Seviper or Zangoose, if they’re not local to your region. Seviper and Zangoose are both migratory Pokémon, but they have not switched places since Jan. 2018.

It’s unknown if the Shiny rate is higher if you get these Pokémon through Field Research. While older events used to have increased Shiny rates on featured Pokémon, the last handful of events have had the Shiny rate on featured Pokémon set at the normal one in 450 rate, with the exception of some random Pokémon, like Sneasel and Gligar. The Shiny rate on Zangoose and Seviper will likely remain unknown until the end of the event.

Trade cost has been cut down to 25% the usual amount and PokéStops are also rewarding more XP per spin throughout the event.
