However, US unlocked models of Samsung smartphones routinely receive updates later than their carrier-locked counterparts.

Samsung does have an explanation for this but many users don’t really care about it, they just want their updates.

Those who have been waiting for the US unlocked Galaxy S7 Oreo update will be happy to know that the firmware is finally available for download.

Samsung has also released Oreo for the unlocked Galaxy S7 edge in the United States.

Samsung first released the Oreo update for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge three months ago. It’s the second major Android platform update for this handset.

The Galaxy S7 won’t receive a major OS update after Oreo.

The company has taken its sweet time with the update. As we pointed out recently, the rollout of the Galaxy S7 Oreo update is yet to be completed.

There are many markets where the Oreo update hasn’t been released for both devices. We can remove the US unlocked models from the list now, though.

Carriers in the United States starting rolling out the Oreo update for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge on their networks last month.

All four major carriers have since released the update. Samsung is now rolling out the US unlocked Galaxy S7 Oreo update over a month after the carrier-locked models got it.

It’s rolling out firmware version G930UUEU4CRG2 for the Galaxy S7 and G935UUEU4CRG2 for the Galaxy S7 edge in the United States.

The update brings all of the features that one expects from Android 8.0 Oreo. Despite the fact that it has been released in July, the update still comes with the security patch for the month of April 2018.

The US unlocked Galaxy S7 Oreo update is rolling out over-the-air today so it may be a while before it goes live for all users.
